How I'm using biological data to tell better stories -- and spark social change.

Can a TV show make us care about something? Can it move us to act? Heidi Boisvert is developing an open-source biometric lab to find out. She and her team are mapping the galvanizing, hot-button moments in various forms of media, and then trying to determine how they can be used for good.

I believe stories have ability to engage & move us to act, but right now most media and social-change strategies try to appeal to mass audiences.

What if we could create customized media for each person? I’m building a machine to help us do that. #biomedia #ai #MachineLearning https://twitter.com/povdocs/status/1202647767568601088

What kinds of stories move us to act? To answer this question, #POVSpark board member and creative technologist @hjboisvert is measuring how people's brains and bodies unconsciously respond to different media. @TEDTalks http://bit.ly/2DPH3dW

Is adding “human values” into #Machines enough? @MannyMoss argues that "human values are too fluid, context-dependent, and based on an individual’s history to be fairly evaluated by quantitative methods." #MachineLearning #AI #ArtificialIntelligence

Artificial intelligence, or AI, is becoming more and more integrated into our lives — and it's learning our biases too.

“#AI developers do not commit to public service, which in other professions requires practitioners to uphold public interests in the face of competing biz or managerial interests.” Imp distinction frm @b_mittelstadt & certainly one we should consider
